Object Selection for 3D Recreation

For the next project, I need to recreate a real life object as an exact 3D model.

My top 3 choices are

1. Broken Music Box

This music box would be a good choice, it has many parts but is not as complex and is completely mechanical. It has a colourful outer box that could be included in the design. It is also broken so it would mean nothing to me to take it apart, I might even be able to fix it. I'm not sure what broke, but one day I dropped it and it started playing the song out of tune.

The one thing that worries me is that the prongs on the drum are really small and might be hard to measure with a caliper. It is also broken so it might not be the most accurate music box.

2. Saitama Nendoroid Figure

This object has a lot of moving parts and is completely mechanical. It is really easy to take apart and put back together, as well as move the part to put the figure into different poses. I also have head and arm variations that I could use to change the face expression and make the figure hold small objects. The stand is an interesting part of the figure as it's made of clear acrylic which would look cool when rendered as a 3d model.

I'm a bit worried about taking this thing apart because some parts of the stand are molded together so I can't do it without breaking it. The stand is clear so I can see the inside and guess, but it wouldn't be perfect. The figure itself might be too hard to recreate as it's mostly organic shapes that are hard to measure

3. Teapot

This teapot is a very simple object that would be easy to recreate. It only has a few components and it is completely mechanical. It is the first thing I thought of when this project was first shown to me. The glass and shiny metal combination would look interesting rendered as a 3d model.

Even though it is a simple object, I am worried about the net. The holes are incredibly small so I wouldn't be able to measure them. This teapot is also the one that my whole family uses so I don't think they would appreciate me taking it to class or taking it apart.

After looking at all my objects, I have decided to go with the broken music box because it has the least concerning cons. I am curious to see what it looks like on the inside and how the mechanisms actually work. Since it is broken, it might not be the best choice. Incase this choice is rejected due to it being broken, I am willing to take apart my other, very similar (but working!) music box. I would prefer to work with the broken one cause I am not as scared of ruining it when taking it apart.
