Music box semi-progress

I wouldn't consider this a proper blog post.

So much is going wrong.

I couldn't disassemble the music box by myself because the crank has a very tight knob that I don't know how to take off. I came in during office hours but Bryan was busy with a meeting so I couldn't do it earlier.

Meanwhile, I decided to try to model the parts that I have already measured. It turned out to be a disaster, and I think I need to re-measure everything.

I tried to do the slope of the comb by using an arc. Everything looked fine until I tried to add the planar slope at the end of the comb (above). It just didn't look right when I used boolean difference. There was too much space left between the sloped and the planar part. I look at the comb again, and apparently there is a slight straight part between the slope and the flat part. I need to remeasure it but it is so small. This is going to be super difficult.

After coming to class the next day to figure out how to disassemble the box, we managed to pull it off. Now the crank is free.

I was also shown a way to cheat measuring the part of the box. If you scan a piece of the object with a measuring object you can import it into Rhino and trace around it.
