I measured the outside box of the music box, which was pretty simple since all the shapes are squares. I'm not sure how to measure the radius of the fillet corners of the holes in the box, I will need help with that.
I can't take the music box apart completely right now because of a plastic stopper that is on the crank. I will need to break it off, but I don't know how to do it safely and efficiently.
I measured the spokes of the box. This proved to be quite challenging due to the small size of the spokes. Instead of measuring the distance between the spokes, I had to use math to figure out the distance between each spoke because my caliper couldn't reach between the spokes to measure.
I think having something like a protractor might be helpful, as this object has a lot of chamfers, and due to the small scale it is hard to hook into the very edge of a chamfered edge. If I measure the width and height of the object, and then snap a line rotated at a certain angle, then it would be easier.
